Agnès b. Le Pain Grillé

Located within the Agnès b. La Loggia fashion store in the IFC mall, Agnès b. Le Pain Grillé is a chic, contemporary French restaurant that is divided into three adjoining rooms decorated in different styles: Paris, Antibes and Lyon.  Meant to evoke a private French country home from the 19th century, the IFC mall describes it as a “4,000 square-feet refuge offering a tribute to the social salons of a bygone age.”  That’s a bit much, but the atmosphere is elegant and intimate, and the cuisine is dependeably good.

Le Pain Grillé translates as toasted bread, and a basket of warm baguettes arrives at your table shortly after being seated.  The cuisine is not exclusively French, as there is a selection of fine pasta to choose from in addition to the classics, like a hearty linguini with duck leg confit. The restaurant has a decent wine list with a wide-ranging list of Champagnes. After your meal, relax on the light-flooded loggia outside with a coffee and pastry from the patisserie next door.
